Your baby has just started to walk, and now you are thinking about shoes for the first time. You go to a store and find rows of stiff, heavy ones that look like tiny versions of adult shoes. Your child looks at them and then at you as if to ask why their feet have been put in boxes.

But barefoot is not always practical either. The floor at the daycare is cold, the sidewalk is rough and a sock on a smooth floor is slippery. Every time you go outside, you worry about a stubbed toe, and every time you go inside, you worry about a slip. It is a strange in-between stage, and nothing quite fits it.

The Soft Sole Shoes are made for it. They have a soft, flexible sole with a rubber base for grip, a breathable cotton upper and toe protection for outdoor play. They come in five sizes with inner lengths listed, so you can check the fit before you order.

Once your child has them on, walking feels more secure. The sole grips the floor, the cotton allows the foot to breathe and the toes have a little more protection when they run into something. You do not have to choose between bare feet and a heavy shoe. For a stage that is full of firsts, a soft pair of shoes is a small thing that makes a real difference.
