Lace Baby Blanket

You would think that a baby blanket is a simple purchase. It turns out to be surprisingly hard. The thin ones are fine for a warm day, but not for a car seat in winter. The thick ones are too heavy, and take up half the stroller. The pretty ones are a hassle to wash. And the ones that are easy to wash tend to look plain.

So you end up with several: one for the crib, one for the car, one for the stroller and one for visits. They are all slightly different and none is quite what you need. You keep changing them in the diaper bag, and each time it seems that the one you brought is the one that does not suit the day.

The Lace Baby Blanket aims to be several things at once. It has two decorative sides, a soft layer of pure cotton and fleece for warmth and a crochet border for a bit of charm. At 100 x 70 cm, it works as a blanket, a swaddle, a throw or a stroller cover.

Once you have it, the diaper bag gets a little lighter. You bring one blanket that can be a swaddle in the morning, a stroller cover on a walk and a cover on the sofa in the evening. It looks good enough to leave out, and it is a lovely gift for someone who is expecting. One well-chosen blanket does the work of several.
