Bedtime battles are one of the most common frustrations parents search for solutions to, and the fix rarely involves a new gadget. A consistent, screen-free routine started thirty minutes before lights out does more heavy lifting than almost anything else.
Start by dimming the lights and swapping any screens for a soft nightlight well before the routine begins. Bright light and video content both signal to a young brain that it is still daytime, which makes settling down much harder.
Keep the sequence of steps identical every single night: bath, pajamas, story, cuddle, lights out. The specific steps matter less than the predictability. A young nervous system relaxes when it knows exactly what comes next.
Small sensory cues do a lot of the settling work for you once they are established. A favorite soft blanket, a gentle lullaby, or a slowly rotating nightlight projection can become the signal that says it is time to rest, often within just a couple of weeks of consistent use.
Finally, keep your own energy calm during the routine. Kids are remarkably good at picking up on a parent's stress, so a few slow breaths before you start can make the whole process smoother for everyone involved, not just the baby.
